Mega Man X3 is the third entry in the Mega Man X series, following Mega Man X2.

The game starts with a cutscene explaining that Dr. Doppler has managed to suppress the issues with Mavericks in the year 21XX. Just as things were becoming peaceful, many robots near him started to rebel, leading to the Maverick Hunters Mega Man X and Zero to be dispatched to quell them and stop Dr. Doppler who they suspect to be behind it. However after being dispatched, the Maverick Hunter HQ announces they are under attack and request backup, starting the game. Once in the base, Mega Man X is quickly betrayed by Mac, leading the player to play as Zero until Mac can be defeated and Mega Man X rescued.

It was released by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System around 1995. The game has also been released for the Sega Saturn, the original PlayStation, and early versions of Microsoft Windows. The game later saw a re-release on the Virtual Console for the Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS, and has a page on the Nintendo website here. Later still it got another re-release for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One (Compatible with Xbox Series X and Series S), and PlayStation 4 as part of the Mega Man X Legacy Collection, which has a page on the Capcom website here.
