Phyllomys is a genus of arboreal spiny rat, geographically restricted to the forests of eastern Brazil.
The etymology of the genus name derives from the two ancient greek words φύλλον (phúllon), meaning "plant leaf", and μῦς (mûs), meaning "mouse, rat".
