Description
The heavy western rifle has a small hammer directly above the trigger, which in order to prime the gun is pulled away from the barrel. A heavy rifle is loaded with 1 heavy bullet as a standard action, and requires two hands.
Normally, operating a rifle requires two hands; However, you can shoot a heavy rifle with one hand at a –4 penalty on attack rolls. You can shoot a heavy rifle with each hand, but you take a penalty on attack rolls as if attacking with two one-handed weapons. This penalty is cumulative with the penalty for one-handed firing.
