Design Note: This spell uses blood damage. If you are not using blood damage, see the footnotes below for alternatives.

Blood Blade, Variant
Necromancy cantrip
Range: Self
Components: S
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

You congeal your own blood into the shape of a weapon. When you cast this spell, you cause yourself 1d4 + 1 blood damage[1] that can't be reduced or negated by any means. If you do not have enough hit points to survive this, the spell fails.

After dealing damage to yourself, choose a melee weapon that doesn't have the heavy or two-handed properties. Your blood congeals into the shape of your chosen weapon, and you are considered proficient with it. Damage dealt with your blood blade is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming damage resistance and immunity.

At Higher Levels. Your blood blade becomes more powerful as you increase in level. It deals an additional 1d6 blood damage[2] on a hit when you reach 5th level (1d6), 9th level (2d6), 14th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).
