Arcane Dragonborn (5e Race Variant)

Dragonborn Variant

Most dragonborn are associated with creatures that have a magical lineage. While the majority of their population channels this through their breath weapon, there exist dragonborn who are born with the power to cast magic instead as a result of their magical lineage. They are considered especially gifted, as they can grant powers to others which are associated with the mighty prestige of a dragon. Their natural affinity for the magical arts does not diminish their naturally tough draconic lineage, but they emphasize less strength and more resilience in battle.

This race variant replaces the ability score increase and breath weapon trait.

The arcane dragonborn race variant gains a new ability score increase, and the draconic arcanum trait.

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Draconic Arcanum. Your draconic ancestry lends itself to you in the form of magic. You know a cantrip from the Draconic Ancestry table shown below, based on your choice of draconic ancestry. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the dragon's breath spell once with this trait. You use your Charisma as your casting modifier for these spells. Once you cast this spell, you can't cast it again with this trait until you finish a short or long rest.
