Scott Pilgrim Takes Off/YMMV

These things about Scott Pilgrim Takes Off are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: It was heavily advertised as a more loyal adaptation of the comics than the movie. It's not, and its actual plot is a serious divergence of the plot, with Scott dying in the first episode to Patel. Nonethless to say, fans expected an adaptation quickly jumped out after the first episode.
  • Broken Base: Though advertised as an anime, the writers, directors and producers are almost all from western countries like Canada, the United States of America, and Spain, with one being an korean, resulting in a huge backlash from anime fans that see such branding as an attempt to attract them without actually putting the property under japanese hands, and MyAnimeList refusing to list the series on their site. Fans still defend japanese animators worked on the show.
