Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is a mecha anime set in an alternate version of Gundam's Universal Century setting. In the original Mobile Suit Gundam, the Earth Federation is able to win a war waged by the villainous leadership of Zeon, aided significantly by The Hero saving Earth's secret mobile suit prototype and associated projects being whisked away just in time by The Hero. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX imagines a timeline where this did not occur - Where Zeon came out of the war on top, flexing its power and influence over both Earth and other space colonies, while coming to grips with its own internal issues.
The story follows Amate "Machu" and Nyaan who meet after bumping into eachother during a delivery of a contraband module for a mobile suit computer. As a result they find themselves involved with an illicit form of mobile suit combat as a Blood Sport. Meanwhile the forces of Zeon seek the elusive Char Aznable and the Red Gundam he is associated with following his mysterious disappearance near the end of the war, deploying a ship and the advanced Gundam GQuuuuuuX in pursuit. The show also has several flashbacks to cover the war, such as how Char Aznable was able to commandeer the original Gundam instead of Amuro Ray, giving Zeon a valued technological boost while denying the Federation many of their early mobile suits and the White Base.
It aired as a twelve episode anime in 2025. It can be streamed online through Amazon Prime Video here. It was made by Sunrise in collaboration with Studio Khara. It was directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki. If you're wondering how GQuuuuuuX is pronounced, it sounds something like "Gee Kwucks".
