Zangief (/ˈzɑːŋɡiɛf/ ⓘ; Japanese: ザンギエフ), often called the Red Cyclone (Japanese: 赤きサイクロン), is a character in Capcom's Street Fighter series. Considered to be the first grappling-based fighting game character, he made his debut in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991). In the series, he is a professional wrestler who fights to prove Russia's superiority over other nations' fighters.
