Yohannes Abraham is an American diplomat, government official, and executive who served as United States Representative to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations from 2022 to 2024. He was selected to lead the planned presidential transition for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and resigned from the State Department to assume this role in September 2024.
Earlier in the Biden administration, he served as chief of staff and executive secretary of the National Security Council, and served as executive director of Biden's presidential transition. He previously served as senior advisor and chief operating officer of the Obama Foundation. During the Obama administration, he served as deputy assistant to the president in the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, senior advisor to the National Economic Council, and was chief of staff to Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett.
