Television in Singapore

Television broadcasting in Singapore began on February 15, 1963. The public broadcaster, Mediacorp, holds a monopoly on terrestrial television channels and is owned by the government investment company, Temasek Holdings. Local pay-TV services are provided by operators such as StarHub TV and Singtel TV. Previously, private ownership of satellite dishes was prohibited.
