Sovetsky District (Russian: Сове́тский райо́н; Meadow Mari: У Роҥго кундем, U Roŋgo kundem) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the fourteen in the Mari El Republic, Russia. It is located in the center of the republic. The area of the district is 1,421 square kilometers (549 sq mi). Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Sovetsky. As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 31,081, with the population of the administrative center accounting for 34.3% of that number.
