South Carolina Navy

The U.S. state of South Carolina has formed a navy twice. In 1775, the South Carolina State Navy was formed to protected the state's coastal communities and shipping during the American Revolutionary War. The second time South Carolina raised a navy was during the American Civil War, when state authorities raised the South Carolina Navy as a distinct force from the Confederate States Navy.
