Sex and the City 2 is a 2010 American romantic comedy film written, co-produced, and directed by Michael Patrick King. It is the sequel to the 2008 film Sex and the City, which was based on the 1998–2004 HBO television series of the same name. The film stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda, respectively, with Chris Noth reprising his role as Mr. Big. The cast also includes cameo appearances by Liza Minnelli, Miley Cyrus, Tim Gunn, Ron White, Omid Djalili, Penélope Cruz, Norm Lewis, and Kelli O'Hara.
Sex and the City 2 was released theatrically on May 27, 2010, in the United States, and on May 28 in the United Kingdom. The film was panned by critics, who criticized its plot, length and character development. It also drew controversy for its portrayal of the Middle East, which many viewed as culturally insensitive. Despite the critical reception, Sex and the City 2 was commercially successful, grossing $294.7 million worldwide against a production budget of $95 million.
A follow-up television series, And Just Like That..., premiered on HBO Max in 2021.
