Major General Merid Negussie (Amharic: መርዕድ ንጉሤ, 21 January 1934 – 16 May 1989) was an Ethiopian military officer and member of the Derg regime who was the commander of Ethiopian forces in Eritrea during the Eritrean War of Independence. He was one of the leaders of the failed 1989 Ethiopian coup d'état attempt.
