James E. Craig (born 1956) is an American law enforcement official who served as the chief of the Detroit Police Department (2013–2021) after earlier stints as chief of the Cincinnati Police Department (2011–13), Portland (Maine) Police Department (2009-11).

A member of the Republican Party, Craig ran in the party's primary for governor of Michigan in 2022, but was disqualified from the ballot due to false signatures; he subsequently ran an unsuccessful write-in campaign for the nomination. In October 2023, he announced a bid in the 2024 U.S. Senate election in Michigan, but withdrew from the race in February 2024. He is currently a candidate in the 2025 Detroit mayoral election.
