Hu, sometimes referred to as Shu, Huwa, Hawwa, Shuwa, or Shahin-bey, depending on the source, is said to have been the mai of the Kanem–Bornu Empire in 1067–1081 or 1077–1081. The Duguwa mais are due to a lack of contemporary evidence generally treated as legendary figures of uncertain historicity.
