Giloh

Giloh was a city in Judah. The biblical town has been identified with modern Beit Jala, in the West Bank.

Ahitophel, one of King David's chief advisors, came from Giloh (Book of Joshua, Joshua 15:51; cf. 2nd Samuel, 2 Samuel 15:12). Ahitophel was the grandfather of Bathsheba, "a daughter of Eliam", one of David's "thirty" (2 Samuel 23:34; cf. 1 Chronicles, 1 Chronicles 3:5).
