Epeoloides pilosulus is one of only two species in the bee genus Epeoloides; it is kleptoparasitic in the nests of melittid bees of the genus Macropis. Known to exist in only a handful of localities in the northeastern United States and adjacent parts of Canada, this species is classified as Endangered by the State of Connecticut.
E. pilosulus lacks the dense patches of appressed scutum hairs of the genera Triepeolus and Epeolus. On the wing, the marginal cell and its apex touch the wing margin, but the cell is more abruptly truncated than in other, similar bees.
