Founded in 2020, the team is under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), while being managed similar to a professional club. Most of the club's players are members of the Philippines' youth national teams.
The team has a youth academy, called the Azkals Development Academy (ADA) where they are heavily investing in the academy as of 2023.
