Amite City (/eɪˈmiːt/ ay-MEET or /eɪˈmɪt/ ay-MIT; commonly just Amite) is a town in and the seat of Tangipahoa Parish in southeastern Louisiana, United States. The population was 4,141 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hammond MSA.
