A by-election is scheduled to take place on June 23, 2025 in the Albertan provincial riding of Edmonton-Strathcona to replace Rachel Notley, the former leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party, following her resignation on June 24, 2024. The election will occur alongside 2 other provincial by-elections in Edmonton-Ellerslie and Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills. Naheed Nenshi, the leader of the New Democratic Party since June 22, 2024 will contest the by-election in order to lead the caucus in the Legislative Assembly as the leader of the Opposition, a role currently being filled by Christina Gray.
It will be held on the same day as ones in Edmonton-Ellerslie and Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills.
