Helmut Spargle
Helmut Spargle was once a famous TV chef and host of Down-Home Country Cooking With Helmut Spargle. After the extreme soda company that sponsored his show replaced him with his former student Elzar, he wound up at Bumbase Alpha baking pies out of shoes for hobos. He began teaching Bender to cook in order to seek revenge against Elzar, but when Spargle ate Bender's food, his stomach exploded he died and was left in a ditch by Bender.

Due to his presence in Into the Wild Green Yonder, it is plausible that someone rescued him from the ditch that Bender left him in and resurrected him somehow.

- Based on his name and accent, he is apparently of German extraction. In German, "Helmut" is a given name and "Spargle" ("Spargel") means "asparagus".
- Helmut's appearance seems to be based off Hans Moleman's from The Simpsons.
- Helmut's character, training and death are a parody of Yoda from Star Wars.
