- The name "Forbidden Planet Hollywood" is a reference to the 1956 science fiction film directed by Fred M. Wilcox called Forbidden Planet and Planet Hollywood, a theme restaurant inspired by the popular portrayal of Hollywood that was launched in Old New York. There is also a cult merchandise retailer named Forbidden Planet.
