Cartridge Unit lives in a community of outdated robots who refused to upgrade, instead choosing to live a simpler existence on a little island, free of technology. The speech of this outdated robot, while cartridge dependant, seems situational at times as he was able to call Bender by his name. The selection is always made by Cartridge Unit itself.

- Has to put Cartridges into his case to talk; possesses a set of tapes, each carrying different words or phrases, which he carries in a bag around his chest.
- Along with the rest of the outdated robots he was only seen in a scenario generated by Bender's imagination. However his name appears on the wheel of robots in "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings", indicating he and the others actually exist. Since Bender recognized the unit type, it is likely he is not unique. He is seen in the fourth film in the audience, meaning that he exists.
