You strike a creature or object within range, infusing your attack with vicious poison. Make a ranged spell attack against the target, or melee spell attack if the creature is within 5 feet. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 poison damage, or piercing damage if the target is an object.
At Higher Levels. This spell’s damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th Level (2d6), 11th Level (3d6), and 17th Level (4d6).
