Description

A western shotgun is primed by pulling the barrels down towards the handle, two shells are put into the barrels, the gun is closed, and the hammer on the back is pulled back. The shotgun fires in a cone 25 ft long by 10 ft wide; damage applies to all targets not obscured in that cone. Reloading a shotgun takes 2 shotgun shells, is a standard action, and provokes attacks of opportunity.

If a shotgun is fired at a target beyond 25 ft, not only do the default penalties apply, but the damage is reduced to 1d6 due to the distance reducing the number of hits.

Normally, operating a shotgun requires two hands; However, you can shoot a shotgun with one hand at a –4 penalty on attack rolls. You can shoot a shotgun with each hand, but you take a penalty on attack rolls as if attacking with two one-handed weapons. This penalty is cumulative with the penalty for one-handed firing.
