Rod of Punishment (5e Equipment)

Rod, common (requires attunement)

A rough, wooden rod with a gnarly knob on its end, rods of punishment are often utilized by authorities with readily available sources of magic. Each rod has 1 charge, regaining this charge at midnight. As an action while attuned to this rod, you may spend 1 charge to touch the forehead of a willing or unconscious creature that is not undead, a construct, or an elemental, imbuing it with a visible mark that roots itself in their brain and optic nerves. As a bonus action, any creature wielding this rod may speak its command word, dealing a number of points of psychic damage of their choice to a maximum of 12 to any creatures of their choice that they can see that has this mark. This lasts until the creature dies or a creature attuned to this rod touching the mark removes it as an action, regaining the rod's charge.
