You conjure a spear made of dragon's lightning and hurl it at a creature. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 4d6 lightning damage.

As part of casting this spell, you can also use your bonus action to charge the spell. When you do so, the damage dice become d8's and the range is doubled.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6, or 1d8 if charged, for each slot level above 1st.
