A kriegsmesser or "war knife" is a sword with a length of 30 or 44 inches that was created by knife makers to use a loophole that only the sword smith's guild was able to make swords. This is why the kriegsmesser's hilt is riveted like a knife's. It is a weapon requiring a trained hand to be used to its fullest capacity, popular among professionals, like mercenaries.

Gelegenheit. When you have advantage on an attack roll with the kriegsmesser, the weapon damage die increases to a d10.
