Industrial Alchemist (FMA Supplement)

This creature was created as part of the Player Equivalent CR variant rule using the Alchemist class and Guild Artisan background, and as such does not follow traditional CR.

Transmutation Circle. The alchemist can create Transmutation Circles. All created Circles occupy the space you were in when you created it, and can only be activated while touching it. Each Transmutation Circle can manipulate a single element or compound, or a substance comprising of at least half of the chosen material, and this material can not be in a creature's possession. Any objects created by the alchemist's Circles can not have any functions its source material did not. The industrial alchemist's Transmutation Circles may manipulate a single non-biological material of their choice. The industrial alchemist has 18 Alchemic Stamina which it may spend, regaining all spend Alchemic Stamina at the end of a long rest.

Use the following and the tables at the end of this creature description to determine the effects of the alchemist's Circles:

Transmutation Save DC: 12

Transmutation Attack Modifier: +4

All is One. The alchemist may spend 1 minute analyzing a material, allowing the next Transmutation Circle they cast within the next hour to manipulate it even if they can not manipulate that material normally unless the material is in a creature's possession.

ACTIONS

Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) piercing damage.

Alchemic Recovery. As a bonus action, the alchemist regains 6 Alchemic Stamina. This feature can be used once, regaining use at the end of a short rest.


Industrial alchemists are experts in the day-to-day uses of alchemy. Factory workers, doctors, and even many farmers use transmutation as part of their careers.

Common Industrial Alchemist Archetypes

The following are common options for this kind of alchemist's circles.

Fabricator

This alchemist uses alchemy to create amenities. The fabricator alchemist's Transmutation Circles may manipulate a second and third non-biological material of their choice.

Doctor

This alchemist specializes in bio-alchemy to heal others. The doctor alchemist's Transmutation Circles may manipulate a biological material of their choice. Using a Circle of any size, they may cause any creatures of their choice within the Circle's range that are not a construct or elemental to regain a total number of hit points equal to the Circle's maximum weight.

Lyra

Once an enforcer for the mayor of Youswell, Yoki, Lyra's violent service to her many masters would one day be her doom. Lyra's Transmutation Circles can manipulate oxygen and silica.

Lotus Alchemy. Using a Large Circle, Lyra may force every creature in a 20 ft. cone must attempt a DC 12 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they take 28 (5d10) force damage. On a success, they take half as much damage. Lyra has an alchemist's crystal affect worth 360,000 cens that can only be used on this Circle, breaks on a 1d4 roll of 1 or 2, and causes this Circle to cost half as much.
