Flintlock pistols are effectively ornate tubes to be packed with a pinch of gunpowder and capped with a metal ball before igniting the powder by striking a piece of flint with a small hammer. While excellent for day-to-day self defense, the toil of even a single reload makes it difficult to use in outright battle.
