This weapon class has its roots in a failed prototype for the dwarven thrower: A prototype that turned out to be far too large and heavy for practical use as a thrower, despite the floaty magic imbued within it. Good ideas rarely go to waste, however, and it later spawned a family of war hammers that exploit their great bulk for consistent and devastating strikes.
