  • Memetic Mutation: The picture of Ryu and Cyclops handshaking became so emblematic that several crossovers replicated it in some way, with one of the most famous examples being Mario, Nintendo's mascot, handshaking Sora, a Disney character, when the latter was announced to be DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
  • Porting Disaster: The PS1 port omitted the tag team gameplay due to the system's limitations.
