The Amazing Digital Circus/Characters
Characters from The Amazing Digital Circus include:
Pomni

A jester themed humanoid and the focus of the first episode.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Amnesiac Hero: Possibly. She can't remember her name, at least, but whether she has forgotten anything else about her past hasn't been specified. At very least, she hasn't spoken of it.
- Determinator: If there is a way out of the Circus, she has vowed to find it.
- Dirty Coward: Shows this in the pilot, abandoning the glitched and helpless Ragatha and fleeing for the door that (she thinks) leads to the exit. Still, she can be forgiven, seeing as she's very new to this whole Trapped in Another World stuff. She becomes more of a Lovable Coward in subsequent episodes.
- The Cassandra: Thinks an exit exists, but nobody really believes her.
- Expy: Her design is similar to that of the NiGHTS from NiGHTS Into Dreams. Much like other references in the series, this was a game that was popular in the 90s, the time period where this series supposedly takes place.
- Fish Out of Water: Starts the story with no knowledge of the world.
- Naive Newcomer: She only truly starts adjusting to her situation in episode 4, the first story where she shows no Sanity Slippage at all.
- Older Than They Look: She is at least 25 years old (according to Gooseworx) but her meek personality and child-like face gave many fans the impression that she was a teenager or "tween".
- Protagonist Without a Past: For now, all that is known for sure is that she got here after using a "weird headset". Nothing else is as yet known of her background.
- The Jester: Bears a Jester motif.
- Rubber Girl: Her body is very bendy and stretchy, though she doesn't have much skill in using it in any useful way yet.
- Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Her avatar is mostly androgynous, her bangs, eyelashes, and voice being what indicates that she is female.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Salmon, according to Gooseworx's social media page.
Gangle

A humanoid made of crimson ribbons and a comedy and tragedy mask.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Poor Predictable Paper: Is implied to always pick paper in Rock-Paper-Scissors.
- Wangst: Invoked, if the comedy mask is broken, the tragedy mask can’t help but be sad.
Jax

A tall lanky purple rabbit.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Cartoon Physics: Invokes these more than other characters.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Gooseworx claims there is a good reason for how he acts, but for now, the fans will just have to assume that.
- Evil Chef: Episode 4; letting him work in a fast food place is the equivalent of a "bull in a china shop"; first stunt he pulls is throwing Ragatha into the deep frier.
- Expy: His appearance, personality, and name are all similar to that of Max from Sam and Max, a franchise popular in the 90s, the time period this series seems to be set in.
- Hidden Depths: Word of God claims he does, but for now, viewers just have to assume that.
- Jerkass: Clearly indifferent to uncaring of things that don’t affect him personally.
- Laughably Evil: Selfish, egotistical, condescending to others, cowardly, and often sadistic, all Played for Laughs.
- Nominal Hero: Word of God confirms that there is nothing heroic about him at all. He's helping the others on Caine's nutty adventures simply because it gives him an opportunity to have fun being a jerk. It is also implied that his reason for abusing and assaulting the other players is because he knows he cannot kill them or inflict any lasting harm. All in all, his reasoning is that all of them are doomed anyway, so what's the harm in having fun by acting like a complete jerk?
- Token Evil Teammate: He is the only Player who is truly malevolent, showing it mostly in episode 2. To begin with, he stretches Pomni between their vehicle and the bandits' (while both vehicles are moving) intending to use her as a bridge, and when that fails, tells Gangle to ram the other vehicle, despite Pomni being on it, threatening to tell Ragatha about "the figurine thing" if she doesn't. (This makes the bandits remark that he's crazy.) Then he convinces the Fudge to help them in exchange for letting it into the city (where it was banished from for eating the citizens). While he does get some comeuppance in later stories, he doesn't learn, shoving poor Ragatha into a deep fryer in episode 4.
- Unpopular Popular Character: He's clearly a complete jerk and The Friend Nobody Likes, but to the viewers, that is what makes him lovable.
Kinger

A white king chess piece.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Chess Motifs: Is a white king chess piece.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Appears to know more then he lets on, yet is clearly not well.
- Raymanian Limbs: Kinger's hands are not attached, and float freely.
Kaufmo

A humanoid clown.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Non-Ironic Clown: His 2D art depicts one.
- Madness Mantra: His room is filled with the word EXIT.
- Monster Clown: Looks like one based on the picture in his room.
Ragatha

A ragdoll humanoid.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Determinator: Drags herself to Caine despite her corruption and pain.
- Living Toys: Is literally a living doll; in episode 2, she is impaled and "bleeds" cotton.
- Not So Different: She is the one trying hardest to help Pomni accept her situation, but in episode 2, Kingler reminds her that she took a long time to adapt herself.
- Shout Out: To Raggedy Ann.
- Why Did It Have to Be Centipedes?: Is afraid of centipedes.
Zooble

A collection of mishmash parts, arranged as a humanoid.
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Ambiguous Gender: While it is doubtful the bodies any of the Players have assumed are biologically male or female, Zoobie lacks any gendered features and has an androgynous voice, so it is impossible to tell what their original gender was.
- Ambiguously Gay: Implied to be the case, regardless of actual gender; in the third episode, Jax claims that holding their breath makes them "straight"; he quickly confirms that he meant it straightens their arms, but Zooble still seems offended by the comment.
- Eaten Alive: By the Gloink Queen.
- Flipping the Bird: Tends to do this rather than use cuss words, simply so the profanity censor has something to cover.
- Helping Hands: Can still strangle Jax with a detached arm.
- No Mouth: Not that she needs one. This is played for laughs in episode 5, where Caine tries to shut them up by putting a zipper where their mouth would be, only to find this does not prevent them from talking.
- Sour Supporter: Sour and would rather be left alone, but generally does the right thing.
- In episode one they try to discourage Jax from being too blunt about their predicament to a panicking Pomni.
- In episode 2 they skip out on the adventure, and when the rest of the cast gets back it’s revealed that they were getting things ready for Kaufmo's funeral.
Caine

The ringmaster of the circus. Appears as a humanoid with no head, and giant comedy teeth and eyeballs in its place
Tropes exhibited by this character include:
- Big Brother Is Watching: Claims to have hundreds of all seeing eyes.
- The Computer Is Your Friend: Seems to be gregarious, but incidentally creates some of the issues faced by the cast.
