Steven Quartz Universe

The main protagonist of the series.

• Cheerful Child: He’s been this when he was 14.
• Half-Human Hybrid: He is half-Gem, half-human.
• The Heart: He keeps the Crystal Gems together.
• Messianic Archetype: Thanks to the complex nature of his procreation, he is human and non-human at the same time, he have miraculous powers that allow him to even resurrect people, and seeks to save the race of his mother of their very, very large list of sins. During the flashback episode portraying the aftermath of his birth, his father is even shown being covered by a blue blanket while surrounded by the three gems, resembling paintings portraying the Virgin Mary and newborn Jesus along with the Three Wise Mages.
• Nice Guy: He’s the nicest out of all the Crystal Gems.
• Shell-Shocked Veteran: He’s dealt with a lot of trauma.
• Sins of Our Fathers: After finding out that Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond, he gets challenged because of it.

Garnet

A Crystal Gem who secretly is a fusion of Ruby and Sapphire.

• The Big Guy: The tallest out of the Crystal Gems.
• Cool Shades: Wears these as part of her outfit.
• The Reveal: It’s revealed in "Jail Break" that she’s a fusion of Ruby and Sapphire.

Amethyst

The most rowdiest Crystal Gem.

• Butt Monkey: She's taken a lot of hits, and was poofed 4 times.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She liked to prank Steven and mess with Pearl during the earlier seasons, but has now grown out of it.
• The Pig Pen: Her room is a huge mess, and she likes it that way.

Pearl

A Crystal Gem who lived with Rose before Steven was born. She cares about helping Steven learn about his gem heritage and tidying up.

• Butt Monkey: She gets almost no respect from anyone but Steven.
• The Lost Lenore: She lost Rose Quartz after Steven was born, and any mention of it will make her lose it.
• Team Mom: She acts like a mother figure to Steven.

Peridot

A Crystal Gem who was a technician back on Homeworld, before she was left behind on Earth when the Gems foiled her mission.

• The Dragon: Was this to Jasper in the Season 1 finale.
• Fantastic Slurs: Her main insult is calling people clods, and she still does, as shown in the movie.
• Heel Face Turn: After calling Yellow Diamond a clod, she is considered a Crystal gem at that point. She hates it.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Around seasons 2 - 3, she is a total jerk to the Gems, but starts becoming nicer after Steven helps her out.
• Large Ham: "APPARENTLY MORE THAN YOU, YOU CLOD!!!"

Lapis Lazuli

A gem who was left behind during the Gem War. She was found and put in a mirror until Steven found and befriended her.

• Broken Bird: She's gone through a lot.
• Dark and Troubled Past: First, she was poofed by Bismuth, then trapped in a mirror, had her gem cracked, and left behind for thousands of years until she was found by Pearl, who stored her in her gem for possibly a few more thousand years.
• Heel Face Turn: She returns the ocean to Steven after he heals her gem.
