The Pulitzer Prize is an award best known for being awarded for exemplary journalism, though it is also awarded for achievements in other media such as music. The award was established through the will of American publisher Joseph Pulitzer. According to the Columbia Journalism School, Pulitzer did this as a means of combating Strawman News Media tactics after his own experience in perpetuating Yellow Journalism made him realize the damage such press could do. The award medal itself is a round medal of gold featuring Benjamin Franklin.
