Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (film)/YMMV

These things about Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (film) are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Special Effect Failure: The first film is somewhat infamous for its obvious Chroma Key composites and quickly dated CGI. Chris Columbus has spoken about this in interviews and indicated that he made a deliberate effort to do better on the second film. His mistake on the first movie was shooting all the effects scenes towards the end of the shooting schedule, giving the effects people only a few months to complete their work. On the second movie, Columbus shot the effects scenes at the beginning of the shooting schedule, giving them a whole year instead.
