Emergency Transformation/Playing With

Basic Trope: A character saved another character's life by turning him/her into something more or less human.

• Straight: Bob saved Alice by turning her into a demon.
• Exaggerated: Bob turned Alice into an Eldritch Abomination to treat her badly stubbed toe.
• Downplayed: Alice stays human, but she looks like a different person now.
• Inverted:
  • Bob gets transformed into a demon by Alice to save her life.
  • Bob has Voluntary Shapeshifting powers, but finds out that he will die unless he gives up his powers.
  • Alice transformed due to natural causes (rather than the transformation being invoked), and the process is so painful that it almost kills her, rather than saving her life.
• Justified:
  • Transformation is akin to the healing arts, but before he set out on his quest Bob was only taught one thing that could save Alice before her injury killed her.
  • The transformation completely replaces the victim's body, including any injured parts.
• Subverted:
  • Bob changes Alice into a demon after she is lethally wounded, but she dies of the wound anyway.
  • Alternately, she dies before the transformation is finished. ^[1]
• Double Subverted: After that she comes back as a full demon
• Parodied: Alice gets a vase dropped on her head, Bob turns her into a dog to prevent possible brain damage.
• Deconstructed: Alice, after seeing she is a demon, becomes horror struck and soon after she loses all the qualities Bob saved her for in depression and self-pity.
• Reconstructed: Right before Alice goes to the point of no return emotionally, Bob realizes what's going on and has a long talk with her, giving Alice only a stronger resolve to help Bob in his quest.
• Averted: No one has any injury that warrants such a treatment.
• Lampshaded: "Great, I get a sword through my heart and now I can't go anywhere without cats hissing at me."
• Invoked: "We need some way to mix things up between Alice and Bob, but romantic would be just too easy."
• Defied: Alice refuses to be turned into a demon, even if it would save her life.
• Conversed: ???
