Dan Evans has just had a Crowning Moment of Awesome when he alone escorts notorious criminal Ben Wade to the train leading to Yuma Prison, dodging several attacks by Wade's men along the way. Just when he's about to deliver Wade to the train, he is shot and mortally wounded by Wade's men. After Wade kills his own men, Evans' son, who had little respect for his old man for most of the film, comes running to his dying father's side, and whimpers "Pa..." as Evans dies.
